Prevent Child Abuse Georgia

Session Description:
Each year, Georgia receives approximately 100,000 reports of suspected child abuse. According to state law, some professions are required to report instances of suspected child abuse, including physicians, hospital or medical personnel, counselors, nurses, child welfare agency personnel, school officials, etc. This interactive session, led by Anna Curtis of Prevent Child Abuse Georgia, will provide professionals with an overview of Georgia’s mandated reporting requirements as well as an update on changes in the law.

Session Objectives:
  1. Provide current statistics on the national and state level for child abuse and the impact of this crime
  2. Recognize four types of child maltreatment
  3. Review how to prepare a report of know or suspected child abuse
  4. Discuss how to promote protective factors to prevent abuse

Education Credit:
Applications have been submitted for GNA, SW, EMS, & P.O.S.T. (Law enforcement).
This program has been approved for 1.0 clock hours by Georgia Training Approval Georgia Early Care and Education Professional Development System.

Participants registering for programs should have access to the following technology for best viewing and participation:
